Early Life of Dave East

Dave was born and raised in New York City, spending time in both East Harlem and Queensbridge. He showed an early interest in basketball and played on his school team while attending Springbrook High School.

He played football for the school team during this time. In addition to playing basketball and football in high school, he played in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) with future NBA players Ty Lawson and Greivis Vasquez.

After attending Springbrook High School, East transferred to Towson University to play basketball.

East announced in March 2020 that he was working on the Karma mixtapes, titled Karma 3. The album was well-received by critics upon its release in August 2020. A deluxe version of the mixtape followed in October 2020.
